Must-Have Trend: The Motorcycle Jacket

|
By FallenFashion101 · February 1, 2011

If there’s one trend you cannot ignore this upcoming spring it’s gotta be the motorcycle jacket. Not only is this piece very trendy, but it’s also extremely versatile, badass, and just really fun to wear.

Motorcycle jackets have actually made a huge comeback from the 80s but with a much more modern twist. They’re very tailored, so they look great on everyone…just as long as you get one that fits you properly. Here are some things to look out for when buying a motorcycle jacket:

1.The fit – make sure it’s not too tight and not too lose. One sure-way is to look at the shoulders…if they’re too low, then the jacket is too big. And if the cut is too high then the jacket is too small.
2.Motorcycle jackets look best when they sit at the hip or even a little higher.
3.Studs, zippers, and little embellishments are a must for a biker jacket.
But one of the things I love most about motorcycle jackets is that they are very easy to wear. Just throw it on to almost any outfit, and your look is instantly transformed (plus it doesn’t hurt to feel like you can actually kick some ass with this jacket on!).

My favorite look though? Skinny jeans with a pair of boots and a biker jacket does the trick every time!

How to Style your Maxi Dress or Skirt in Fall

|
By FallenFashion101 · October 25, 2010

Are you trying to get your fall wardrobe together? If you are struggling with your options and are not aware of what’s the hottest thing to wear this season then I have all the information that you are seeking.
Fall 2010 is making way for the maxi dress and maxi skirts. The floor length style is not only elegant and comfortable it is also versatile, easy going and sophisticated. If you are not sure about how to wear an outfit in this style then here are a few tips to help you out.

The trick to wearing the outfit and make it look elegant yet comfortable is to wear it in a fabric that is lightweight. Ideally cotton or silk are the perfect choice for the fall season. Accessorize the outfit appropriately and you are well on your way to looking dressed up.

The great thing about the maxi dress in fall is that you can sport a casual look as well as look formal and wear it to the office or for a social gathering. Wear the dress with a pair of biker boots and a hooded jacket or a leather jacket and you will be ready for a casual evening out with your friends.

Alternatively you can wear the outfit with a pair of high heel pumps and a formal jacket to the office and with a pair of peep toe shoes or stilettos and you are ready for a night on the town with your friends.

When you are wearing a maxi styled outfit remember to wear chunky jewels in dazzling shades and bright hues. Ideally you would need to wear jewelry that in contrasting shades. If you are wearing a skirt then wear a belly chain around your waist for a funky look. Dazzling earrings and long chains will give you a perfect look for the evening.

If you are wearing a maxi styled skirt then you must wear a body hugging top. If you wear a loose top or an empire styled top or something that is loose it will not look very flattering.

When you are wearing the maxi dress or skirt this fall remember to add your own personal touch to the outfit so that you are comfortable in it and it speaks of your own style.

Dress Thinner: Fashion Do’s and Don’ts

|
By FallenFashion101 · October 19, 2010

The fashion and glamour world is all about image. However in the real world not all of us can afford to be thin and have long legs. Lets face it we have to live with the bodies that we were gifted with; that doesn’t mean that you need to look bulky and unappealing if you are not blessed with a perfect figure.
That is where you sense of style is important. You can play around with your clothes and make wise choices so that you can mould your shape and look thinner and appealing.

If you don’t have the shape and body of a model you will definitely have some part of your body that you are proud of and want to show off. You need to wear clothes that accentuate this feature to give you a great looking figure.

To begin with you need to wear clothes that fir you well. Those that are too big will look bulky and will not make you larger than you are and unappealing.

Those that are too small for you will make you look bulging in areas that are not well toned. In order to get clothes with a great fit you must buy them in stores and not online. When you shop online you run the risk of getting clothes that are not the right fit.

When you are not too happy with your shape and figure and you want to look slimmer your best bet is to opt for clothes that are in dark shades, solid colors and wear only one color from top to bottom.

Even if you are wearing separates you must wear monotones to keep your self looking thin and toned. Black, grey, brown and olive are your best bet.

Clothes that are flair cut or bulky are not for your body. Avoid wearing sweat shirts instead wear cardigans; don’t wear sweaters either. Pleated skirts, pants with pleats, flowing skirts and clothes with excess fabrics are not your cup of tea. When you are choosing your necklines a V neck is your best bet.

Pants that are boot cut are great for your shape and if you wear skinny jeans then ensure that they are the right fit on your waist and your hips. Don’t wear pants in velvet or silk or any other fabric that clings to your body.

Wearing high heel shoes makes you look more confident and thinner instantly.

What Clothing Accessories are you Shopping for this Summer?

|
By FallenFashion101 · October 18, 2010

This year summer has some bold fashions like floral prints and nautical hints. However clothes are taking a back seat and fashion designers and stylists across the globe are focusing their attention on accessories.
So, since all the attention is being focused on accessories what are you going to invest in and showcase this year?

In summer your outfits dress up your look so it is a good idea to look at your accessories as an investment and make the right choice. You may need to purchase a few accessories as the ones that you have may be outdated or may have lost their glamour quotient.

Whatever the occasion or event you are heading out to you can make heads spin if you wear the right accessories with your look.

Bags are a trendy accessory to show off in summer so it is a good idea to get a few key pieces in your closet. Clutches, hobos and croc embossed bags are always trendy and their glam quotient increases in summer so you may want to grab a few pieces that fit your style and personality.

Another accessory that is very trendy this year is the oversized sunglasses. These sunglasses are available in all shapes and colors so choose a pair that matches your style and will suit your summer outfits. You can also play around with the color of the glasses in order to give you an edgy summer look.

Add color into your wardrobe this year by including trendy and colorful accessories like watches and scarves. Watches with rubber and silicone bands are extremely haute this year so investing in one in this style is a great investment. You can also add bangle watches to your watch collection.

Though summer is known to be the season to let your hair down more than 90% of women style their hair up in this season. For this reason hair accessories gain a lot of attention.

Scarves are a traditional way to style your hair in summer; however you can also try wearing multi colored clips and other hair accessories like hair bands, hats and barrettes in your hair.

The last accessory that needs some attention is your choice of shoes. Here I recommend choosing comfort over style and adding flats, wedges and colorful flip flops to your existing shoe collection.

Shopping Tips – How to Save when Shopping for Accessories

|
By FallenFashion101 · October 15, 2010

Accessories make or break an outfit. A simple dull or not so glamorous outfit can speak volumes if you wear it with the right accessories.

The best part about shopping for accessories is that you can wear them with multiple outfits and change the look of each outfit.
Also, when you invest in accessories don’t feel compelled to wear the accessories in a uniformed manner; try wearing the same accessory is different style.

For example you can wear a scarf around your neck, handbag, shoulder or your waist or try wearing a necklace around your neck, in multi strands around your wrist or around your waist with your belt.

Now, in order to get the best deal when you are shopping for accessories you must look out for sales. This is the best and most efficient way to make the most of your purchase without burning a hole in your pocket.

Shopping online is a good option for those who aren’t huge fans of walking into huge malls or departmental stores. When you are shopping online it is a good idea to compare prices of the same accessories on different websites to help you get the best bargain.

Another thing that you need to keep in mind when you are shopping online is the shipping cost; this may vary from site to site so choose your shopping site wisely. Sites that offer free shipping or merge costs of shipping various items are your best bet.

Shopping out of season is also a good option. Winter scarves, mufflers, gloves and leg warmers are available at almost half price during other seasons. You can also shop for sunglasses out of season.

Whatever accessories you wish to purchase you must do when they are not in demand so that you get a good deal on it. However you must be warned that you may not get the latest trends when you shop out of season.

Check out accessories at thrift shops. These are the places where you can get your hands on some vintage accessories that will add glamour to your outfit the moment you wear them.

Check out the handbag collection at your local thrift stores; you may also get your hands on some elegant jewelry and outfits at ridiculously low prices.

How to Accessorize your Little Black Dress for an Evening Look

|
By FallenFashion101 · October 14, 2010

A little black dress is a wardrobe staple that most women depend on for an evening out. And in most cases this is the best dress to have in your closet.

The issue with this outfit is that women tend to wear it so often that every one they know has already seen them in it so it becomes difficult to wear it to an event or an occasion.
This shouldn’t be the case as there are multiple ways to accessorize the outfit to give it a new and fresh look every time you wear it.

If you want to change the look of the outfit with minimal effort then you can do so by simply wearing a huge necklace around your neck. Multi strand pearl necklaces, beaded necklaces or wearing multiple chains around your neck is one of the quickest ways to change the look of the outfit instantly.

You could also wear a tiny or large belt (depending on the outfit, your personality and your body shape) to give your dress is different and defined look.

A belt with diamante is a good look for a little black dress as it defines the outfit. The belt is an accessory that helps to dress up the outfit in a matter of seconds.

Another simple way to change the look of the outfit is to wear a tiny coat or a shrug over it. Wear a shrug or a jacket in a contrasting color to dress up the outfit.

A beige jacket over a black dress adds to the elegance of the outfit. You can try wearing a red jacket or a checkered one over a black dress to make the outfit stand out. This is a fun way to dress up the black outfit and give the woman a youthful look.

If you want to look bolder and elegant then you can wear a trench coat over the dress. A black coat will increase the sophistication of your dress and you will look elegant; however if you want to look casual then wearing a beige or grey trench will be perfect.

Accessories like bright clutches and shoes or elegant earrings will give your outfit a completely different look. A great way to wear a little black dress is to comb your hair back, wear a pair of statement earrings and a pair of black patent leather pumps. This is my favorite way to wear the outfit.
